29,322 test Covid positive in Kerala; TPR at 17.91% | Thiruvananthapuram News, the vie

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state witnessed 29,322 positive cases of the 1,63,691 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 17.91%. Meanwhile, 131 Covid deaths were reported, taking the related death toll in the state to 21,281. At the same time, 22,938 patients have recovered from the disease.
Among the new cases, 27,874 cases have been infected through local transmission. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 1,251. There are 118 healthcare professionals among those infected, and 79 people have arrived from outside the state. Thrissur reported the highest number of cases with 3,530.
So far, 38,83,186 people have recovered from Coronavirus infection in the state, even as 2,46,437 patients are still undergoing treatment for the same.
There are 5,78,704 persons presently under observation in various districts of the state, of which 5,45,246 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres, and 33,458 are in isolation at hospitals. As per the weekly infection population ratio, 296 wards in different local bodies are having WIPR more than 7%.
