Here are the key highlights from the match:
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD INNINGS
A first-over duck for the returning David Warner: SRH’s Australian dasher David Warner couldn’t give his side the impetus they needed at the beginning. DC’s key find Anrich Nortje didn’t take long to remove the left-handed opener without disturbing the scorers. It rocked SRH right in the first over of the game, while giving Delhi early control in the Powerplay. Warner walked back for a three-ball duck, with the scoreboard reading 0/1.

Losing Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey in the span of three balls: At 60/2 in the 10th over, SRH were trying to rebuild their innings from 29/2 after five overs. But Axar Patel removed the dependable Williamson (18) off the penultimate ball of the 10th over and then Kagiso Rabada made it a double blow off the first ball of the 11th over by sending back Manish Pandey (17). The SRH duo had added 31 runs for the third wicket, but DC bowlers cut short their stay. With the fall of these two quick wickets, SRH went from 60/2 to 61/4 in the space of three deliveries.
Abdul Samad and Rashid Khan’s late flourish took SRH to 134 for 9: It was only because of a late onslaught off the bats of Samad (21-ball 28) and Rashid (19-ball 22) that SRH could go past the 130-run mark. Samad was removed by Rabada, while Rashid was eventually run out.
DELHI CAPITALS INNINGS
Shikhar Dhawan’s message for the selectors: Left out of India’s T20 World Cup squad, veteran opener Dhawan let his bat do all the talking with a 42-run knock that set up DC’s comprehensive win. His 37-ball stay included 6 fours and a six. Dhawan added 52 runs for the second wicket with Shreyas Iyer (47).

Shreyas Iyer impressive in comeback match after injury: Iyer didn’t let a long injury layoff hurt his return to the pitch as he played a key role in DC’s win with his 47 not out. The former DC captain’s knock ensured there were no hiccups and Delhi crossed the finish line with 2.1 overs to spare. Iyer’s knock included 2 fours and 2 sixes, as he scored at a strike rate of 114.63.
Shreyas Iyer-Rishabh Pant unbeaten partnership took Delhi Capitals home: As Iyer held up one end, skipper Rishabh Pant kept taking the pressure off his partner with his big hits at the other. Pant hit three fours and two sixes in his knock of 35 not out off 21 balls, while adding unbeaten 67 runs for the third wicket with Iyer. Delhi lost only two wickets and marched to a comprehensive eight-wicket win to reclaim the top spot on the points table.
